What is Portrait printing?
29/10/2003
Portrait printing is when the correct orientation of a printout appears with the shortest edge in the horizontal direction.
For example, the A4 printout thumbnails in diagram 1 would be classed as landscape and portrait respectively.

It is possible to select the orientation of a printout in the printer driver.
For example, the C9000 printer's PCL driver contains a "Paper" tab with a section entitled "Orientation" as in diagram 2. Within the Orientation section there is an option to select "Portrait" or "Landscape". The thumbnail diagram of the A4 sheet will change in accordance with the selection of Portrait or Landscape. The orientation of the A4 thumbnail will be the same as that shown in diagram 1.
