What does it mean to "balance the colours" of my printer?
22/01/2001
Three primary colours (cyan, magenta and yellow) plus black mixed in appropriate proportions are used by the printer to print a wide range of colours. The relative density of each primary colour determines the actual colour printed. This property is known as colour balance.
The colour balance is correctly set when the printer is manufactured. However, as the printer is used, the colour balance may require some adjustments. A colour balance print test page may be printed using the printer's colour balance adjust print pattern menu option. This procedure is documented in the printers User Guide. THIS MUST NOT BE USED TO FIX ISSUES FOR COLOUR MATCHING.
If the centre circular patch matches the colour of the circular patches numbered 00, the colour balance is correctly adjusted. (The colour balance diagram applies to the C7000/9000 series).
In the new generation of C7000 and C9000 printers, the test page is called Colour Tuning Pattern.
